Yesterday (19th November), Conservative MP, Julian Smith met with farmers from his constituency in Westminster.
The meeting was part of the National Farmers Union’s (NFU) Mass Lobby event.
The event brought together thousands of farmers from across the country to discuss the key issues facing the farming industry.
Changes to Agricultural Property Relief (APR) and Business Property Relief were discussed in the meeting.
Commenting, Julian said:
"Farming is at the heart of our rural communities and plays a vital role in feeding the country and protecting our environment.
“Today’s event was a great opportunity to hear directly from farmers about the challenges they face -from rising input costs, the need for clear and fair agricultural policies and changes to inheritance tax rules.
He added,
“I will continue to work with colleagues across Parliament to ensure the interests of our farming communities are represented.
“Events like today’s Mass Lobby are essential in bridging the gap between policymakers and the people whose lives and livelihoods are directly impacted."
The NFU’s Mass Lobby event provided a platform for farmers to meet their MPs and raise concerns about the future of the sector.
