Skipton Morrisons supports hospital volunteer by donating plants to Airedale Hospital & Community Charity

Team from Morrisons

Helen Allen is a registered volunteer with Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and has been inspired to bring more life to the hospitals outside spaces.

Helen, who has been undergoing treatment at Airedale, sought solace in the grounds of Airedale to break up lengthy days of appointments and various treatments.

As a keen gardener herself, she realised that the outdoor spaces could benefit from some additional greenery.

Helen approached Morrisons Skipton Community Champion, Clare Reed who was more than happy to get on board with the sprucing up.

Clare said:

“I’m always really happy to be able to support local causes.

This is a brilliant way to bring some life to the various areas that Airedale has.

We had a great morning with Head Gardener, Steven Holdsworth. He showed us the Woodland Walk located in the grounds of Airedale and other areas where a lot of the trees and shrubs will be planted.

She added,

“I’d also like to express my thanks to Mark Reynoldson of Mr Odd Job Removals for providing transportation of the plants, we couldn’t have got them to Airedale without your help.

“I’m looking forward to coming back with Helen and getting stuck into some gardening.”

Jodie Hearnshaw, Charity Manager said:

“I’d like to personally say a huge thank you to Helen and Clare for organising this fantastic delivery. We couldn’t believe the variety of plants and trees that had been donated.

We’re really lucky to have so much outdoor space at Airedale.

We’re always grateful to volunteers, companies and our local community who help to enhance the spaces for our patients, visitors and colleagues.”
