South Craven Year 7s raise over £1000 for Airedale Hospital & Community Charity

Year 7s with Mr Tilson and Laura Hepworth

Year 7 students from South Craven School organised a variety of quirky fundraising events throughout 2023 in support of Airedale Hospital & Community Charity.

The year group selected Airedale Hospital & Community Charity as one of their chosen charities to fundraise for and have organised a random sock day, a bake sale and taken on the smarties challenge, pitching form group against form group to see who can fill the most tubes of smarties with 20p coins.

Community Fundraiser, Laura Hepworth said: “The Year 7 students have been really committed to fundraising for us and we’re very grateful that we were selected as their Charity of the year.

“They have taken it in their stride, finding fun ways to fundraise and should be really proud of everything they have achieved.”
The fundraising efforts saw the students raise a phenomenal £1080.90 for the charity.

Pastoral Teaching Assistant Mrs Nutt said: “We decided to raise money for Airedale Hospital & Community Charity because it is a fantastic local Charity that supports local people.

“Taking part in fundraising has also taught the Year 7s valuable lessons about their local Hospital and what a difference raising funds for charity can make to people.”

Year 7 Student, Belle Brewer added: “The Charity helps people in tricky situations so, we want to help them!”

Airedale Hospital & Community Charity started the School Supporter Club in 2020 and have since supported nurseries, schools and other organisations with their fabulous fundraising ideas. The School Supporter Club also offers access to the Grow it! challenge; providing an introduction to entrepreneurial, business and financial skills whilst also raising funds for a very important cause within the local community.
